Match Report: Triples - 29th May 2012

The triples this week saw 20th Century following-up their league game with Doddridge last week with the triples. Having had a conclusive win in their league match, they looked to repeat this. 20th three John Collins, Phil Ireson and skip Frank Jarrett provided high promise with their 19-6 win, while team mates Mick Jolly, Don Wooton and Harry Allen were equally impressive at 17-8. There was just one triple standing in the way of another five pointer and thanks to Roland Coles, Barry Coles and Denis Wakelin this was achieved and 20th had five points from their 54-26 win.

Top team Amateurs were playing Primrose Hill on the same evening and this was to be a close game on two of the triples. The less close one however was thanks to Amateurs' Steven Dolby, G. Allen and Mark Hunt who took an impressive win of 20-9 in their game. Things were indeed much closer on the other two triples, however they were both still to go the same way, despite them both being decided on the final woods of the game. Dave French, Bill Atkinson and Joe Kovacs toughed it out to a 10-9 win, while Bob Hutton, Andrew Dolby and Dave Brawn took two shorts on the final end to take the lead for the only time in the game at 13-11. This left Amateurs with all five points from the match and a score of 43-29.

20th Century V Doddridge: 19-6, 17-8, 18-12 - Total = 54-26
Amateurs V Primrose Hill: 10-9, 20-9, 13-11 - Total = 43-29

Match Report: League - 24th May 2012

The latest games in the league saw 20th Century claiming an impressive win in their match against Doddridge. 20th players Pete Thacker, Mick Jolly, Don Wooton and Harry Allen won on their rink 26-10, while their team mates John Collins, Roland Coles, Karen Goodrich and Frank Jarrett sealed an equally impressive 23-10. The final rink was closer, but thanks to Leanne Cardall, Connor Dolby, Barry Coles and Denis Wakelin it went the way of 20th Century 15-11 and left them with a full five point, 64-31 win.

Amateurs and Primrose Hill were also playing and this was to end a very close game with the win decided on the last end. B. Hutton, Cliff Britten, G. Allen and Andrew Dolby for Amateurs suggested it would not be that close with their 21-9 win. While Dave French, Chris Barlow, Andy Harris and Joe Kovacs held onto a 17-16 win for Amateurs despite dropping ten in two ends. The reason however the game win was close was thanks to the Hill four of George Wells, Dave Ashby, John Edwards and Don Harrison and their 20-8 win. For Hill it was just not enough losing the game 46-45.

Health and Chronicle & Echo were battling in the final game of the night and the former were to get the upper hand. Top rink Pete O'Connell, Andy Hornby, Martyn Cox and Paul Harvey took a 32-1 win, while Janet Leslie, Des Barker, Paul Hargreaves and Gary Snelson sealed a 12-10 win. The final rink however was to be Chrons thanks to Dan Muddiman, Scott White, Dave Tarry and Chris Bland by 13-12.

20th Century V Doddridge: 23-10, 26-10, 15-11 - Total = 64-31
Amateurs V Primrose Hill: 17-16, 8-20, 21-9 - Total = 46-45
Health V Chronicle & Echo: 32-1, 12-13, 12-10 - Total = 56-24

Match Report: Triples - 22nd May 2012

The latest games in the triple league saw a tale of two triples in the game between Primrose Hill and Health. The Hill triple of Dawn Horrocks, John Horrocks and Phil Aldridge against Health trio Gemma Buckley, Lee Mains and Dave Mains remained a close match throughout which after their battle just went the way of Hill by a single shot 13-12. The other two triples were both the complete opposite, Health three Andy Hornby, Paul Hargreaves and Martyn Cox were in great form and got away to an 18-2 lead after seven ends, this was eventually pegged back a bit by Hill, but they still saw defeat 22-10. The final trio went a similar but reversed way, Hill three Bill Aldridge, Kevin Evans and David Evans nailing a 24-2 win and with that snatching the four points from the game with a match score of 47-36.

Amateurs' game against 20th Century was not quite as tight as they sealed a solid 5-0 win. Colin Reed, Steven Dolby and Mark Hunt won on their rink 18-7, while Bill Atkinson, Andy Harris and Joe Kovacs along with Brian Dolby, G. Allen and Andrew Dolby both gained the same margin win with their 18-10 and 13-5 respectively.

Primrose Hill V Health: 10-22, 13-12, 24-2 - Total = 47-36 (4-1)
Amateurs V 20th Century: 18-10, 18-7, 13-5 - Total = 49-22 (5-0)

Law Security

Sadly following tremendous difficulty in getting enough players, it is with huge disappointment for the league to announce the withdrawal of Law Security from both the Racecourse League and Triples competition.

It is hoped that as many of the existing players remaining interested in playing will join those teams still playing, some themselves struggling a great deal to fill full teams.

Both the league and triples tables listed below in previous posts will be reset shortly to accommodate the withdrawal of Law Security from the league.

All matches featuring Law Security are now removed from the fixtures, your team secretary should also confirm this.

Match Report: League - 17th May 2012

Amateurs were playing Health in their latest league game and this was to become a very tight game. The Amateurs four of B. Hutton, Chris Barlow, G. Allen and Andrew Dolby provided the highest winning rink for them of seven shots at 20-13, while Health four of Janet Leslie, guest Richard Briggs, Ted Williams and Lynn Williams also won by seven shots, 18-11. This left the final rink to provide the match outcome and the four of Colin Reed, L. Richardson, Steven Dolby and Mark Hunt from Amateurs just pipped an 18-16 win, and the match went their way 49-47.

Primrose Hill's opponents were Chronicle & Echo, playing their first game and with a number of first time players it didn't end up being the Chron's most successful night on the greens. It did provide a fascinating game though with a dead end, a tied end, a seven score and an eight during the match. Best rink for Hill was Dawn Horrocks, Rose Sanderson, John Horrocks and Phil Aldridge with a staggering 42-4 scoreline. The other two rinks also went Hill's way with George Wells, Dave Ashby, John Edwards and Keith Jones and a score of 24-11, while Bill Aldridge, Mick Evans, Kevin Evans and David Evans won 19-11. The frightening final score on the board 84-26.

Amateurs V Health: 11-18, 18-16, 20-13 - Total = 49-47 (4-1)
Primrose Hill V Chronicle & Echo: 23-11, 42-4, 19-11 - Total = 84-26 (5-0)

May 3rd games

Tonight's games are still to be confirmed. I understand that the groundsmen were able to cut the greens yesterday, so it is now a matter of keeping an eye on the rain. I will check the greens at about 3 to see the condition and post more then hopefully.

Its a matter of fingers and legs crossed (bad toilets joke) that we can finally being the 2012 season tonight.
