Match Report: League - 28th June 2012

Amateurs continued their winning run in their game against Primrose Hill. However again they had to do it with a single winning rink. The rink, again the Chown Cup winners the previous week, were Dave French, Chris Barlow, Andy Harris and Joe Kovacs and a win of 21-11. Just three shots were between the other two rinks, both going the way of Hill. The first George Wells, Dave Ashby, John Edwards and John Horrocks 18-16 and the second of Wally Banks, Rose Sanderson, Dawn Horrocks and Phil Aldridge 14-13. Match score 50-43 and a 3-2 point score in favour of Amateurs.

The second game saw Health and 20th Century battling it out. Top rink of the game was for 20th, Pete Thacker, Catherine Lewis, Barry Coles and Denis Wakelin 15-6. Health saw Janet Leslie, Ted Williams, David James and skip Lynn Williams win 21-13. The final rink also went to Health and Lee Mains, Gemma Buckley, Dave Mains and Gary Snelson by a single shot 14-13. This all left the game tied at 41-41 and a 3-2 point share in favour of Health.

Amateurs V Primrose Hill: 21-11, 16-18, 13-14 - Total = 50-43
Health V 20th Century: 21-13, 14-13, 6-15 - Total = 41-41

Match Report: Triples - 26th June 2012

Amateurs did enough to wrap up the triples competition for 2012 in their game last night against Primrose Hill. Amateurs three of Dave French, Graham Allen and Joe Kovacs provided the best of the game with their 17-9 win. The other two triples however both went the way of Hill. Dawn Horrocks, John Horrocks and Phil Aldridge sealing their win 14-8, while team mates George Wells, Dave Ashby and Keith Jones wrapped up their game on the last end 14-13. The match was just Amateurs by 38-37 as was the triples competition for the year.

20th Century and Doddridge were also playing the same evening and the trio of John Collins, Pete Thacker and Frank Jarrett had a storming game with their win of 24-6. This was going to be the decider of the game despite Doddridge three Ernie Bratt, Don Johnson and Keith Jones winning 15-12. The final triple between Doddridge's Graham Anderson, Linda Johnson and Richard Lovesey and 20th three Mick Jolly, Don Wooton and Harry Allen stuck together at the end 13-13. This left 20th with the game 49-34 and three and a half points for them.

Amateurs V Primrose Hill: 17-9, 8-14, 13-14 - Total = 38-37
20th Century V Doddridge: 24-6, 13-13, 12-15 - Total = 49-34

Match Report: League - 21st June 2012

Two games took place in the latest night of play in the league. Top of the table Amateurs were playing 20th Century in their game and this was a nail-biting game throughout with never many shots between the two sides on any rink. The biggest gap though did go to Amateurs four Dave French, Chris Barlow, Andy Harris and Joe Kovacs, the same rink as had won the Chown Cup in the weekends Crockett Cup. Their advantage this time 20-11. The other two rinks though were both to go 20th Century's way. Mick Jolly, Kevin Evans, Don Wooton and Harry Allen won 15-12, while the four of Pete Thacker, Catherine Lewis, Barry Coles and Denis Wakelin won 16-13. The match though was Amateurs by 45-42 and a 3-2 point result.

The second game of the night was between Primrose Hill and Health, and top rink of the game was Primrose Hill's thanks to Dawn Horrocks, Rose Sanderson, John Horrocks and Phil Aldridge 21-5. This was to be Hill's only rink win though as Health four Lee Mains, Gemma Buckley, Lynn Williams and Dave Mains took an 18-12 win, while Des Barker, Philip Hutt, Martyn Cox and Ted Love won 16-13. The game score though was 46-39 in favour of Hill and 3-2 points.

Also announced today is the sad departure from the league of Chronicle & Echo following a depleted number of players. Due to their departure, the table below has been altered to accommodate this. We wish the Chron players well and hope one day to have their return to the league.

Amateurs V 20th Century: 20-11, 13-16, 12-15 - Total = 45-42
Primrose Hill V Health: 16-13, 18-12, 5-21 - Total = 46-39

Match Report: League - 31st May 2012

Doddridge were playing Health in the only game to take place on this evening of play. Having had a beating at the hands of 20th Century for two games in a row, Doddridge were on the look out to get a win themselves. Doddridge four of Philip Hutt, Norman Wheeler, Graham Anderson and skip Don Johnson set a good benchmark with their 14-8 win, while their team mates R. Shea, J. Taylor, Viv Walker and Richard Pitts also sealed a 16-11 win. Health were to hit back themselves however with a 19-12 win on the rink skipped by Paul Harvey. This was not enough to reclaim the game however which Doddridge won 42-38.

Doddridge V Health: 8-14, 19-12, 11-16 - Total = 42-38 (4-1)
Chronicle & Echo concede to 20th Century (0-5)
